Nigerian artist byebem brings a fresh pulse to afrobeat with his new EP MUZIK

Rising artist Byebem isn’t here to fit in, he’s here to expand. His latest release, MUZIK, is a 9-track journey that plays like a sonic autobiography. Rich with Afrobeat rhythms but not confined by them, MUZIK reaches beyond the genre’s traditional borders. Tracks like “Thuggin” and “YEA YEA” introduce unexpected textures, pulling in elements of rap, R&B, and even soul-drill; proving that Byebem isn’t afraid to show the full spectrum of his influences. Both tracks also include alternate endings that highlight different moods, adding depth and dimension to the EP as a whole.

Byebem recently offered insight into the project on his Instagram story, “The EP is really me showcasing different sounds and symbolizes my love for music expressed through different faces of myself,” he wrote. “From different types of Afro beats (+Afrofuturism) to an R&B soul rap record to sexy drill... all different faces of myself and different things that have heavily influenced my music and addiction to drums specifically, that also tie into my heritage and what I was influenced by as a kid.”

That deep connection to rhythm, culture, and identity flows through every track on MUZIK. Whether you’re vibing to the traditional grooves or caught off guard by genre-blending curveballs, one thing is clear—this project is authentically Byebem.
