22 year old photographer Abdi Ibrahim's dreamy portraits
Creative Abdi Ibrahim sheds light on his underrepresented culture
22 year old Seattle creative Abdi Ibrahim has perfected capturing the beauty of humanity. Scrolling through his instagram you can see all the gorgeous expressions he’s snapped. “I'm black and Muslim and my identity is a huge part of my work.” Abdi told us, “My goal with my photography is to create representation for my community since it's a misrepresented and underrepresented demographic.”
His use of contrast is phenomenal. Capturing darker models in front of very light, muted backgrounds he somehow manages to blend both for a soft and luminous photograph. His work evokes many different emotions, from joy and humor to more serious, and profound vibes.
“My goal is to eventually be featured on a magazine and shoot a cover story. My favorite are I-D, the Fader, and Paper, and a lot of my work is inspired by these publications.” One day Abdi would like to become an, “Art director or creative director for one of these publications.”
He's well on his way, and we're anxious to watch him continue to grow as a creative!
