Philadelphia based artist JoLeaha shows us her multi-medium works of art
An illustration created as a sample shirt graphic for 'Kolors Inc.' a brand that I've been designing for.
JoLeaha Larke is a 24 year-old artist based out of Philadelphia, PA. Though always a creative at heart, she only started drawing consistently in July of 2016 when unemployed with no other source of income. She discovered her unique style which she describes as "drawing people with little to no facial features" while doing cover art. She told us, "I love the idea that you can recognize the person that I'm illustrating strictly off of their clothes and body features." She started graphic design in early 2017 while working with CRTVUE (a creative platform based in Philadelphia). She refers to herself as a "multifaceted creator", because she's "constantly testing new mediums while simultaneously perfecting (my) illustrative and graphic design style." We're excited for her upcoming projects to be released in 2018, along with a few drops from clothing brands she's collaborated with this year. Check out some of her work below!
'Tryna Cater to All of My Creative Outlets Like:'
This was another illustration digitally painted in Photoshop. I felt the need to illustrate the message that I'm never going to stick to one medium... I'm way to curious and expressive to choose just one way to create the perfect image.
'Painting a Gentleman'
Originally an illustration on heavy-drawing paper, scanned into Photoshop and re-worked into a digital painting. The original can HERE.
An illustration made to encompass the style, lingo, and aesthetic picked up during my time living in the DMV (DC/MD/VA). The shirt says "Jah Like" a common phrase used to explain something, "This drawing is Jah Like fire Moe."
"Xenon of Larken"
I'm in the (slow) process of creating a comic book, and this was the first character I created. This is a Illustration that I scanned into Photoshop, then placed over an actual image from space that I completely re-colored & distorted.
